Brandi discussing adjustment challenges faced by returning combat veterans and strategies to assure a successful transition to a quality life.<\/em><\/em><\/h5>\n<h5><strong>On the Right: <\/strong><em><em>Listen to the Audio version of <\/em>&#8220;The Warriors Guide to Insanity.&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/em><\/h5>\n<hr \/>\n<p>By helping each and every Warrior understand they&#8217;ve walked off the battlefield far stronger than when they walked on, and to then use that strength to overcome the traumas of their experiences.\u00a0 This allows them not only to understand their feelings about their experiences are normal and to heal, thus preventing\u00a0them from taking their lives and the lives of others.\u00a0 It also directs them toward life goals that benefit themselves and their loved ones and leads to a more productive and excellent future.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong><strong>Explaining how Post Combat Feelings are Normal<\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a title=\"The Warrior's Guide to Insanity: Traumatic Stress and Life\" href=\"http:\/\/sgtbrandi.com\/?page_id=1656\">The Warrior&#8217;s Guide<\/a><\/span> says it all. And once they understand the savage side of their nature, they are on the road to healing.\u00a0 Sure, there will always be scars, but that&#8217;s the price we willingly pay to serve this nation.\u00a0 And I want them to feel comfortable in remembering the war, the loss of true friends and the pain we&#8217;ve shared as Brothers and Sisters.\u00a0 Because everything we&#8217;ve experienced in Battle makes us stronger, wiser and better human beings when we keep that focus; \u00a0allowing others to be weaker than we are, and yet to help them to a position of strength that we as Warriors all have.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong><strong>Focusing on the Needs of the Troops <\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>My primary focus today is our Troops, past and present; they are my Brothers and Sisters, my fellow Warriors.\u00a0 And I will do whatever it takes to help and encourage each of them on their Journey of Honor.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\">Family and Friends of Warriors<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I&#8217;ve added a <a href=\"http:\/\/sgtbrandi.com\/?page_id=1778\">Prologue<\/a> in the Second Edition (2010) of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a title=\"The Warrior's Guide to Insanity: Traumatic Stress and Life\" href=\"http:\/\/sgtbrandi.com\/?page_id=1656\">The Warrior&#8217;s Guide<\/a><\/span>, addressed to the family and friends of Warriors.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><strong>Mentoring and Consulting <\/strong><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Mentoring Sessions with the troops deploying to and returning from combat<\/li>\n<li>Suicide prevention activities<\/li>\n<li>Collaborations with collegiate support groups on &#8220;Veteran Friendly College&#8221; initiatives<\/li>\n<li>Advising colleges about program and facility needs of returning veterans<\/li>\n<li>Consulting with collegiate veterans and college administrations on veterans challenges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Another Book&#8230;<\/h4>\n<p>Another book I highly recommend is <strong>HEALING SUICIDAL VETERANS: <em>Recognizing, Supporting and Answering their Pleas for Help<\/em><\/strong> (October 2009, New Horizon Press) by Victor Montgomery III, MAEd., CMAC, RAS.
